We found both at L'ecole De Danse. My daughter has now been with the studio for 4 years and I cannot say enough about how much she has learned as a ballerina. Her technique and form have improved so much since the fun playfulness of the earlier classes she took in her younger years...all because of the dedication and teaching passion of her teacher Christine Morgan. We could not be happier with the new studio and all of the individualized teaching and training that our daughter receives. And my daughter loves to be able to watch the older girls and see how they have grown as dancers, and this is possible since we are able to see them year after year. My children (son and daughter) have attended L'ecole De Danse for the past 4 years and their classes are a highlight to our week. Christine Morgan is a superb ballet teacher with a focus on french academy teaching style but with a warmth and humor that makes her studio both challenging and wonderfully creative and fun at the same time. Her beginning class (ages 5 on up) has so much playfulness, a great introduction. Higher levels are excellent and the school's performances are professional productions with hand-sewn costumes and wonderful talent. I'll also throw in that her adult Wednesday night class is not to be missed if you've ever thought about trying ballet, took it as a child, or even have a high level of achievement but are looking for a supportive environment to practice. They are like mini master classes with adult students of a variety of levels and ages. Christine's teaching inspired me to take it up just two years ago as a novice and I'm loving it! "I spent a great deal of time researching ballet schools for my two daughters. I saw that Christine Morgan combined artistic sensibility with an ability to teach this sensibility in a gentle manner to children, and that the children enjoyed the classes. My daughters, now grown, learned to express themselves through dance movements and to appreciate fine music while doing so. They learned to carry themselves with grace and poise no matter what the situation. Now I take her adult ballet class and enjoy the stretching and balancing exercises (and great music). The other students are welcoming and supporting. The teacher was trained in France and is very good artistically. The school puts on performances every other year by children in the other classes. Both my children (ages 13 and 10) started ballet with Christine and have stayed with Christine these last 6+ years. She is as strict and disciplined as ballet mistresses go, yet she is warm and kind to the children. Her classes are strictly classical ballet, and my girls love it. The younger ones start with joyful creative dances. As they get older, Christine somehow injects the technique and form into the classes at the same time keeps it fun and creative. When my older daughter was ready to go on pointe, Christine took time to meet and with great care personally oversaw the pointe shoe fitting (and every pair since). We especially like having spring performance every other year. It leaves the girls enough time in between nonperforming years to concentrate on form and technique (instead of prepping for performances constantly.) I studied ballet at L' Ecole De Danse for five years starting in 8th grade till my senior year of high school (2000-2005). I had been to other dance school previous and I enjoyed the small atmosphere of L'ecole De Danse. My class was basically the same students the entire 5 years I was there (about 12 to 14 students). We were able to grow and learn as a class and each student was given individual attention. Christine is a fabulous ballet instructor. She is disciplined and strict as a ballet instructor should be but also very warm. I would highly recommend L'ecole De Danse for anyone looking to develop correct technique in a disciplined atmosphere with a french influence. The adult classes are great too! |
